Kerro's Crusade Day Journal

Day 10, October 21
To Nannup

Final pack up from Busselton – thanks to Rod Cronan and Annie his manager for 3 days we didn’t have to unpack.  Jim Benson deserves thanks too for organizing houses for our support crew.

Lois and Graham as well as Heather and Rob, Maureen Ryan (Dick’s wife) waved us off!

Ross, Karen and Julie set the pace today through the hills and were still heading the pack on arrival in Nannup.  Jim Benson joined us for approx 5 kms before heading back.

Our arrival in Nannup was cheered on by a lively group of locals enjoying the Open Day at the Lawn Bowls club.

The extended an invitation for any of us to join them later in the afternoon.  There were shades of ‘Crackerjack” with Funky Mill, blocker Wilson, Hilly, Piglet (Daniel) and Michael Smart (who joined us from a footy trip in Margaret River) participating.

It was interesting to note that Jim Kidd’s grandmother started the first Tennis Club in Nannup where the current Bowling club is located.  She was also a founder of the local Croquet Club.  Amazing how it all ties in!

Back in the bar the mood turned to politics with the arrival of Trevor Sprigg and John McGrath – both believed Howard would be regarded a genius if he pulled off this election!  It’s great to see the Opposition supporting us – the Government has not even responded to our call for assistance or interest in the walk!

The usual evening’s activity saw a panel of Ken Judge, Colin Miller and Blocker Wilson questioned and they were then joined by Spriggy and John McGrath.  Colin’s tales of meeting the Queen with dyed pink hair and opening the bowling at the MCG for his effort with the blue hair dye had the locals amused.

The auction and raffle for the evening raised close to $4,000
