Kerro's Crusade Day Journal

Day 12, October 23
Bridgetown to partway Manjimup

Usual early morning start in beautiful Bridgetown after fabulous accommodation at the recently renovated Bridgetown Hotel (for walkers) and the Freemasons (for support crew).  The Walkers were lucky enough to have spas!

Crusaders gathered for casual breakfast (although a couple nicked off to the bakery when it opened at 6.00am for some treats instead).  This was followed by a team meeting where yesterday’s awards were announced.

Kerro’s Medal of Courage was awarded to Harry for his constant thoughtful deeds (e.g. buying the newspaper for everyone on Sundays, ensuring the ladies have liquid refreshments rather than beer).  Harry collects our luggage from outside our room each morning and delivers these to our rooms each day.  In between he runs “support” making encouraging gestures.

The Downlow Award was awarded to Alan Morrison for leaving a vehicle unattended with valuables inside.

Jim Kidd and 6 of his Managers joined us today, including his General Manager Neil Harvey.  A brave effort considering the hills!

We pushed on today to complete a 30 km walk today to knock off a few kms from the ensuing days.

Welcome to JJ and Kay Miller for this evening’s show and a farewell to Naomi and thanks to her for keeping some members on the road.

Kerro’s Medal went to Rod Cronan for doing it tough and “Never Giving Up”.  He constantly encourages everyone despite the pain he is suffering whilst walking.

The Downlow Award went to Julie for her meticulous preparation in getting ready to walk and then co-ordinating the team’s laundry.

Judgey then interviewed JJ Miller who entertained us with anecdotes from his illustrious career as a jockey, including riding a Melbourne Cup winner and some inside stories on how races may have been won
