Day 13, October 24
Partway to Manjimup to partway Pemberton (30kms)
Lovely to have stayed 2 nights in one place again to catch up with washing (thanks to Cath and Julie).
Crusaders bussed out to the drop off point for another day on the road.
Fairy warm day so in addition to the usual water and sports drinks Cath, Julie, Maureen Ryan and Coral Pember prepared fruit platters for morning tean and then cold chicken and salad for lunch. Coral and Mick Pember have joined us for a couple of days Mick helping with driving an extra safety vehicle on narrow winding roads. Sincere thanks for your help Mick and Coral.
The Pembers have a car fridge/freezer so the ladies took full advantage of it and provided ice creams for dessert at lunch. Great treat!
Pat Martin from Ray White Manjimup created enough buzz in the town to generate two stories in the local press and then turned up to walk a session with us today.
Beautiful scenery ending our walk today in the Karri forrest.
Back to Manjimup for a walk through the business district to a warm welcome from BankWest.
Fantastic staff had nibblies and cold drinks for us along with a $1,000 cheque!!
Quiet evening recovery on the lawn area at the Kingsley Motel in Manji, followed by nibblies so plentiful that we didn’t need to have dinner.
Entertainment by JJ Miller and his lovely wife, Kay who has more than a few stories of her own.
Small auction followed.
Today’s winners:-
Kerro’s Medal – Daniel (Piglet) for his unending enthusiasm and encouragement in his role as support crew.
Downlow Award – once again a tightly contested filed. Worthy nominations included Julie and Libby for not bothering to wait for the laundry to open and just walked through the window at the Laundromat.
Dick for driving over a star picket at our lunch stop.
Winner – Hoops for misinterpreting hand signals when driving!
