Kerry Coates was a much loved WA sportsman who had a career in football and cricket spanning more than 30 years.
In that time “Kerro” touched the lives of many Australian sportsman including some of our most treasured!
Kerro was a premiership player in 1974 for the famous East Fremantle Football Club, and then went on to coach their colts where he has produced players such as Brownlow medalist’s
Simon Black and Shane Woewodin and current AFL stars Josh and Matt Carr. Kerro was also the state amateur coach and played cricket at high level for many years.
In October 2005 Kerry was diagnosed with the ugly and incurable disease Motor Neurone. Sadly in September 2007 Kerry lost his battle with MND passing away peacefully at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
This has inspired former and current WA sports people to rally around and get behind this incredible event.
